The power of one english essay

in English we were asked to write an essay about the power of one the movie that we watch in English and here is my essay

The power of one was a film made in 1992 by a director named John Avildsen.
It shows many things throughout the movie but the main plot is centred around the apartheid and all the hatred towards the English people from the Afrikaners and the disrespect of many black people. And how Hitler had an effect on the Afrikaner people during the time known as World II.

The scene opens on a close up of Jaapie Botha getting a swastika carved into his arm when P.K the main protagonist is being carried into what looks like a hall by a group of boys.
The close up shows a razor blade carving into his arm with a swastika oozing out blood.

then there is another scene right after they show the swastika they show a shot of his face in a close up with a blank face showing that he is hiding the pain to show that he is strong. Directors purpose was to show that the effects that world war two had on the young Afrikaners he showed that the young Afrikaner people saw Hitler as a role “model” And the devastating effect that it had on the English people. The effect that the scene had on the audience was to make them cringe as they watched a razor blade carve into his arm. Going back to the scene where he is getting a swastika carved into his arm they show a scene right after that to show a close up of his face to show how painful it is but he has a blank face to show that he is hiding the pain.In the scene of jaapie Botha getting a swastika carved into to his arm they are playing German marching song on a radio this is diegetic sound. For example, we know this because in a later scene we can hear the music in the scene and that the actors respond to it. The reason to why they put the song in the background is to show that they are patriotic. The effect it has is it makes you feel somewhat patriotic and it shows the audience that the boys are patriotic.

During the scene with jaapie Botha getting a swastika carved on his arm, they use low lighting. The low lighting is the key to show the scene in a dark matter. The director uses low lighting to show that they are trying to keep hidden and it shows the dark matter of the subject. The effect that it has on the audience is that it makes you feel like something bad is happening. The lighting goes very well with the close-up shot of jaapie getting a swastika carved into his arm because it gives the scene a very dark feeling.

In the end, the movie was a good film made by a director who did his research.
There were many bad things that happened throughout the movie it showed many acts of bravery and poor treatment of black people and the hatred from the Afrikaners towards the English.
I would recommend watching this movie if you want to learn about the apartheid.

Reflective blog for metal tec

question one:
what am I learning

I am learning multiple things in metal from how to use a vernier caliper and how to use multiple power tools and how to 3d print

question two: how does this work show my learning

its shows in many ways and forms such as the f-shapes that I made and 3d printed designs

here are a few photos of my learning:

this is the f-shape that I made in metal this is actually the second one that I made because the first one was really bad and I restarted

this is my f-shape in tinkercad that I made.As you can see that the f-shape in real life is really bad compared to the one in tinkercad  because I am better at
working on tinkercad than in real life I have learnt that it is easier to work online then it is in real life

this is my drill gauge that i made in tinkercad
this is my first idea for my custom drill gauge

this is my second idea form my drill gauge

question three: what I am wondering
I am wondering about my custom drill gauge and how i am going to print it

question four: how can I use this learning
by using it for when something needs fixing around the house or I could use it to help me get a job or just build something

Update for custom drill gauge

In metal, i am making a drill gauge for my dad because we have lots of drill bits and we don't know what sizes they are it is going to be the shape of a dice with the sizes on the faces of the dice it will have the numbers for the sizes on the top of the hole

this is the design process still not yet done

Egyptian astronomy

Egyptian astronomy

Ancient Egyptian astronomy was a religious tradition. The Egyptians had no true understanding of the universe, so many myths were created as an explanation for astronomical events. To them, each star was some form of God or Goddess or part of one.
The sun was represented by multiple Gods. When the sun rose in the morning it was known as Horus, the reborn child of Osiris and Isis, God and Goddess of the afterlife. The hot, mid-day sun was known as the much more powerful sun God, Ra. And the evening sun was the creator God Atum, the "finisher of the world" who put to rest all other sun Gods, then died each day at sunset.

How writing has chaged

writing has changed over the years compared to Hieroglyph because in modern times we use computers and when you wanted to write your names in hieroglyph it would take you ages to write while with computers it takes your seconds to write. hieroglyph are written vertical and modern writing is  written side ways
