anecdote a short amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person.

Emotive Language. Writers use emotive language in order to have a greater emotional impact on their audience. Words can evoke positive emotions, as in: 'Brave gran risks life to save emaciated orphan'. Or the goal can be more negative: 'Abandoned children found in filthy, flea-infested flat'.

imperative    The imperative mood is a grammatical mood that forms a command or request. An example of a verb used in the imperative mood is the English sentence "Please be quiet

rhetorical question is a device used to persuade or subtly influence the audience. ... Oftentimes, a rhetorical question is used to emphasize a point or just to get the audience thinking. Sometimes, a rhetorical question is asked with the asker already knowing the answer, such as the weather example.

volcanoes

what types of volcanoes are there
  • Cinder Cone Volcanoes: These are the simplest type of volcanoes are the simplest type of volcano. They occur when particles and blobs of lava are ejected from a volcanic vent. The lava is blown violently into the air, and the pieces rain down around the vent. Over time, this builds up a circular or oval-shaped cone, with a bowl-shaped crater at the top. Cinder cone volcanoes rarely grow larger than about 1,000 feet above their surroundings.

  • Composite Volcanoes: Composite volcanoes or stratovolcanoes make up some of the world's most memorable mountains: Mount Rainier, Mount Fuji, and Mount Cotopaxi, for example.
  • Shield Volcanoes: These are large, broad volcanoes that look like shields from above – hence the name. The lava that pours out of shield volcanoes is thin so it can travel for great distances down the shallow slopes of the volcano. These volcanos build up slowly over time, with hundreds of eruptions, creating many layers. They’re not likely to explode catastrophically. Perhaps the best-known shield volcanoes are the ones that make up the Hawaiian Islands, especially Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea.
  • Lava Domes: Volcanic or lava domes are created by small masses of lava which are too viscous (thick) to flow very far. Unlike shield volcanoes, with low-viscosity lava, the magma from volcanic domes just pile up over and around the vent. The dome grows by expansion of the lava within, and the mountain forms from material spilling off the sides of the growing dome. Lava domes can explode violently, releasing a huge amount of hot rock and ash

2. Mount Vesuvius, Italy

trip to new zealand in the 1850

You are sadly living in London in 1850 and the pollution is bad that if hard to breath when you go outside and one when you see a poster advertising a country that you have never heard of called New Zealand and it dawns on you that it says its promising a new start to life and new jobs.so you go home after a long day of work and you think about it and then you yawn and fall asleep .you wake up to water dripping on your face and you realise that your bed and pillow are damp from the roof leaking and you have had an idea you have just made a decision that's going to change your life whether good or bad you are going to move to New Zealand you have no other reasons to stay as all of your relatives died in a horrible fire when you were young. So by the next day, you have packed up all of you belongings and take a boat to New Zealand.

You make it to your half of the bunk bed and you dump your luggage on your bed and a crew member comes in to give everyone supplies like blankets and water and food for the day and he said he will return to give more tomorrow you lay on your bed and you hear rain up on the decks floors and you fall asleep to the sound of the rain .you wake up and you feel the boat moving and the air seems a bit stale and you decide to go near the window and you look out but all you see is dark clouds and a bit of land and you ask one of the crew members walking past where are we right now and he says we are along the coast of France .you go back to your cabin and you lay there and you think to yourself that this is rather boring you pull out a pack of cards and go play cards by yourself and you find it rather boring to you stop playing cards. You go to bed as it is getting dark outside and you start to write a diary of your trip.

Day 2 the trip was rather windy and cold and the sea was not forgiving.

Day 22 the weather has gotten a lot hotter and we are at the bottom of the South Africa day

Day 50 you have been told that we are a lot closer to New Zealand and that we are near Australia

Day 60 you are off the coast of Australia and the weather is really hot at you spotted a shark out the window day 65 you are really close to New Zealand and you reckon that a couple of days and you will be in New Zealand day 70 you can see the coast of New Zealand and the weather is temperate. You have just been told that we are in New Zealand an in 20 minutes we will be on the docks and leaving the boat you leave the boat to start a new life the end.

home economics blog post

in home economics, we learnt about Japan and how they present and prepare  their food

something I have learnt about Japan was that the sushi used to be old fermented fish instead of new and fresh fish it has changed from technology becoming more advanced likes freezers and fridges

like in Japan when they present their food they have it fresh and it is healthy and everything has to look neat and nice for them to present the food while in New Zealand we just preserve our foods with freezers and then heat them up and eat them later

what rice do they use in sushi

why do people use rice compare to other countries

what other rices can they use with there dishes

tomorrow when the war began daunte and jaden's story

WRITING - Chris fell asleep on sentry duty. Rewrite an ending to this event where the teenagers are found by the invaders. Whose point of view are you writing from? What happens? How do they react/feel?

this is just a draft and not a proper story so that's why the punctuation is not that good

Jaden's side

Chapter One

Me and my friends found these kids just sleeping in the open like it was 2 weeks ago and we thought why not go over and say hello to them and offer them some tea and cookies like we do with everyone else, so we start to go over there then we see some people running over there to take their stuff and worse. Then they all wake up and grab guns and run away from us because the people trying to take their stuff and we chase and kill the raiders to help the kids and take them back to the campsites with everyone else. But once we killed the raiders the kids were nowhere to be seen. A bit later we founded the kids then we looked away from the group to get the tea and cookies out and they had ……..

daunte's side
Chapter two

tried to escape by shooting at us so we kinda shot back they had bolt action rifles and we had fully automatic rifles so it was an unfair fight, to begin with, we stop shooting at them after we had hit one of them by what looked like the back of the head.

when they saw that they started to charge at us screaming a rather rude word and then we started to fire again I loaded a whole mag into a male and he still kept coming at us and once we saw him hit the ground the bandits began to scream homer and they ran for a truck and what seemed to be a woman standing on the back of a truck with a rocket launcher and with a blink of an eye my whole squad had been taken out I manage to get a few shots on the woman and she crumbled under the weight of the rocket launcher and hit the ground with a thud at that moment I realised I was the last one left out of my squad able to fight then I was grabbed by the back of my neck and I was being strangled so I turned and hit a girl and she screamed with pain and then I felt an ear piercing sound and at that moment i had just realised I had been shot.i fell to the ground on my knees in pain I managed to look at my attacker and I thought this is it im going to die from a teenager and then I heard another bang and the boy hit the ground and fell silite and didn't move then I look from where the gunshot came from my team mate we both were on the ground but he was less ingerd than me. he got up and helped me up to my feet and he said that the others ran away and he said that the other patrol will take care of them he said that they dropped their guns and ran after we killed that girl on the truck he looked over to where the girl was on the ground crying he told me what happened to her I said that I hit here in the face and he said we will take her back and integrate her and offer her tea and cookies and he said and for you need a doctor I will call for backup he said.and after a few minutes later a truck arrived to pick up my squad well what was left of my squad.for me though I was airlifted to the hospital.

wood tec finishing the beer crate

today in wood tec I finished my beer crate here are the photos
what I reckon I could have done better was put a divider between the beer so they don't move around as much

reflection:
it was a fun project to do but it was a bit tricky with drilling the holes where the dowl goes because I made a mistake when I drilled it. so  i had to improvise and drill another small hole and then mix sawdust and glue and fill in the gaps

metal work lathe introduction

today in metal we have been introduced to the lathe here is an image and a diagram of the lathe here's a video of how to work a lathe
A lathe is a tool that rotates the workpiece about an axis of rotation to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, deformation, facing, and turning, with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object with symmetry about that axis.

tomorrow when the war began chapter 12

“They say teenagers can sleep all day”. Is this true? Do you agree? Does Ellie still see herself as a typical teenager?no

Ellie’s dream at the beginning of the chapter is rather nonsensical, as dreams are wont to be. Is there any meaning to it? Try and explain what Ellie’s subconscious could be thinking about: why is her dad cooking for the whole town? Why did Father Cronin ignore Ellie’s greeting? Why was Corrie 8 years old again? Why were they sailing off on a boat? Why was Lee undressing? because Ellie is weird and does some stuffed up stuff when she sleeps

Why is it so terrible that Chris falls asleep while on sentry duty? How does Ellie react? Why do you think she reacts this way? How does she feel about her reaction later? because some soldiers could have killed them in there sleep

Back in Hell, Ellie’s dreams are far more ominous. Explain why Ellie is dreaming of her fears. because she is having a nightmare

tomorow when the war began chapter 11

How does Ellie feel as she is waiting in the truck at the Council Depot? Where do her emotions come from? she had the shivers and cold and fear and she got it from her love for her friends

Why are the girls smiling when in danger? Is this a logical response? because there nervous

What does wearing a helmet and buckling up mean to the girls? safety

What does Chris’s story say about the town? that they got invaded

What impact does the BMW have on the story? Does Chris seem lonely? Explain your answer? because he finds the BMW and goes up the dam from where the BMW came from and finds Ellie and other people

What is Homer’s explanation for the need to swap cars at Chris Lang’s place? What does this show about the way he is thinking?
because he thinks that the soldiers will find the car and try and connect the dots together and think that there's a connection

What are your thoughts on the story so far...um kinda boring

migration work

our powtoons video
in social studies, we studied migration and we made a video
Migration - the movement of people to a new area or country in order to find work or better living conditions.

Push Factor - Push factors come in many forms. Sometimes these factors leave people with no choice but to leave their country of origin

Pull Factor - Whereas push factors drive migrants out of their countries of origin, pull factors are responsible for dictating where these travellers end up. The positive aspects of some countries serve to attract more immigrants than others.

Cultural - Cultural Factors have to do within a person’s beliefs, moral values, traditions, language, and rules of behaviour that are followed by a certain group of people. This also has to do with cultural beliefs, gender roles, and customs

Economic - An Economic Factor is the information that affects a business or its investment’s value.

Social - Social push factors include a lack of social mobility and job restrictions. For example, in the 1800's, Italians were restricted by social class. If you were born a peasant, you would always remain a peasant. No matter how hard you worked, there was no way to move up the social ladder. As a result, many Italians began to immigrate to the U.S.

Political - Political factors that drive people from their mother country include persecution and government restrictions on citizens. The Jews were persecuted for many years in Europe, especially during World War II. Many decided to leave and find new homes in the U.S

Environment - People migrate due to environmental reasons, pulled towards physically attractive areas and pushed from hazardous zones. In the process of immigrants trying to migrate they may face intervening obstacles

tommorow when the war began

Do you think the way they handled the snake incident was appropriate? What could they have done differently?no, I think they should have dropped a big rock on the snake

Ellie claims that ‘Hell’ is only a label and that people label things all the time, often ignoring or overlooking certain labelled places or things. She then comes to the conclusion that ‘Hell was people’. Is she right? What’s your opinion, on labelling and Hell?probably not

What was especially peculiar about the planes that flew over Hell? ‘Their ------, their ------, their----- frightened me.’ Do these characteristics have any significance? yes

Corrie and Kevin are the only couples in the group, but the trip was bound to bring friends closer. So why does Homer’s interest in Fi seem so odd to Ellie? I don't know I want to read about guns, not the romance so i don't care

Fi brushes off the planes coming back from Commemoration Day. Why do you think the planes were flying over Wirrawee? because they are invading wirrawee

Robyn claims there were dozens and dozens of planes flying over them. What is Lee’s response? Is his suggestion reasonable? how ironic

What did you think spiritual wellbeing was before you started this unit? I don't know

What is the spiritual wellbeing about? beliefs and religion

english work chapter 1

1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of first-person narration? in first  person, they don't get to see the other characters point of view

2. Why do you think Ellie needs to tell the story in chronological order? because she doesn't it would make the book even worse

3. Pick one interesting word from the chapter, find its meaning, and explain why it is interesting. orgy

4. John Marsden foreshadows several events and characters in this chapter. Make three predictions based on the evidence in the text about what may occur later in the story.REEEEEEE!

5. What kind of story do you think Ellie is going to tell? Uses evidence from the text to support your answers. REEEEE!

6. What set of skills do these characters have that convince their parents that they can ‘go bush’ independently. Find examples for three characters. retard syndrome and autism and

tomorrow when the war began chapter 3

Why does Robyn think they are the only people ever to have gone into Hell?
because she is the annoying character

Why do you think the valley is called Hell?
because its hard to get into hell

Why must the teenagers seem like visitors from hell to the wild things living in the clearing? How is this ironic?
Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

What picture of Kevin do we get in this chapter?
hes the strong one i guess

What does Ellie liken Fi to? Do you think this is a fair assessment of her character? Use examples from the text to support your thinking yea because she hasn't tried a lot of stuff that everyone eats

At times Ellie switches her narration from retelling the story to commenting about her life in the present - why do you think the author has chosen to write in this style? because he can

How did the group of teenagers ascend Tailors Stitch? by truck, i think

What are the two special events happening the day after the teenagers leave for the bush? a concert and a national holiday

Who is the Hermit and what is he supposed to have done? he killed his wife and killed his kid

Do you think the Hermit will be significant to this story? Why/Why not? no

Is their decent down Satan’s Steps into Hell dangerous? Discuss what are the dangers, how could they have made it safer, what would you have done? yes because they can die

The power of one english essay

in English we were asked to write an essay about the power of one the movie that we watch in English and here is my essay

The power of one was a film made in 1992 by a director named John Avildsen.
It shows many things throughout the movie but the main plot is centred around the apartheid and all the hatred towards the English people from the Afrikaners and the disrespect of many black people. And how Hitler had an effect on the Afrikaner people during the time known as World II.

The scene opens on a close up of Jaapie Botha getting a swastika carved into his arm when P.K the main protagonist is being carried into what looks like a hall by a group of boys.
The close up shows a razor blade carving into his arm with a swastika oozing out blood.

then there is another scene right after they show the swastika they show a shot of his face in a close up with a blank face showing that he is hiding the pain to show that he is strong. Directors purpose was to show that the effects that world war two had on the young Afrikaners he showed that the young Afrikaner people saw Hitler as a role “model” And the devastating effect that it had on the English people. The effect that the scene had on the audience was to make them cringe as they watched a razor blade carve into his arm. Going back to the scene where he is getting a swastika carved into his arm they show a scene right after that to show a close up of his face to show how painful it is but he has a blank face to show that he is hiding the pain.In the scene of jaapie Botha getting a swastika carved into to his arm they are playing German marching song on a radio this is diegetic sound. For example, we know this because in a later scene we can hear the music in the scene and that the actors respond to it. The reason to why they put the song in the background is to show that they are patriotic. The effect it has is it makes you feel somewhat patriotic and it shows the audience that the boys are patriotic.

During the scene with jaapie Botha getting a swastika carved on his arm, they use low lighting. The low lighting is the key to show the scene in a dark matter. The director uses low lighting to show that they are trying to keep hidden and it shows the dark matter of the subject. The effect that it has on the audience is that it makes you feel like something bad is happening. The lighting goes very well with the close-up shot of jaapie getting a swastika carved into his arm because it gives the scene a very dark feeling.

In the end, the movie was a good film made by a director who did his research.
There were many bad things that happened throughout the movie it showed many acts of bravery and poor treatment of black people and the hatred from the Afrikaners towards the English.
I would recommend watching this movie if you want to learn about the apartheid.

Reflective blog for metal tec

question one:
what am I learning

I am learning multiple things in metal from how to use a vernier caliper and how to use multiple power tools and how to 3d print

question two: how does this work show my learning

its shows in many ways and forms such as the f-shapes that I made and 3d printed designs

here are a few photos of my learning:

this is the f-shape that I made in metal this is actually the second one that I made because the first one was really bad and I restarted

this is my f-shape in tinkercad that I made.As you can see that the f-shape in real life is really bad compared to the one in tinkercad  because I am better at
working on tinkercad than in real life I have learnt that it is easier to work online then it is in real life

this is my drill gauge that i made in tinkercad
this is my first idea for my custom drill gauge

this is my second idea form my drill gauge

question three: what I am wondering
I am wondering about my custom drill gauge and how i am going to print it

question four: how can I use this learning
by using it for when something needs fixing around the house or I could use it to help me get a job or just build something

Egyptian astronomy

Egyptian astronomy

Ancient Egyptian astronomy was a religious tradition. The Egyptians had no true understanding of the universe, so many myths were created as an explanation for astronomical events. To them, each star was some form of God or Goddess or part of one.
The sun was represented by multiple Gods. When the sun rose in the morning it was known as Horus, the reborn child of Osiris and Isis, God and Goddess of the afterlife. The hot, mid-day sun was known as the much more powerful sun God, Ra. And the evening sun was the creator God Atum, the "finisher of the world" who put to rest all other sun Gods, then died each day at sunset.

How writing has chaged

writing has changed over the years compared to Hieroglyph because in modern times we use computers and when you wanted to write your names in hieroglyph it would take you ages to write while with computers it takes your seconds to write. hieroglyph are written vertical and modern writing is  written side ways

otzi

we found out that otzi had cuts on his hands and chest before he died he died from bleeding to death

evidence is important because if you don't have evidence people won't believe you

this is our theory of how otzi died

We believe that the four theories are a connected in some way for starters he could have been selected among a few people to be a human sacrifice and he didn't want to be a sacrifice so he ran up to the mountains and then the people who wanted him to be a sacrifice caught up to him and then they proceed to fight otzi that would explain why he had bruises and cuts on his hands and chest and one thing lead to another and he got shot in the back with an arrow and that didn't kill him and he couldn't pull out the arrow himself and then the people saw that it didn't kill him and they stabbed him and then pulled out the arrow and the arrow broke and left the arrow head in his body and then left him to die evidence show that he had a fractured skull and we reckon when he was shot by the arrow he fell over and hit his head on a rock and got back up.

S the director use a long shot to show that the guard know geel piet is up to

E the long shot shows both sergeant Borman's legs in the foreGround and Geel Piet in the background we also see Borman's baton in his hand to indicate that geel piet is going to get the shit or poop beaten out of him

X the directors intended to show sergeant Borman's violent intentions toward geel piet

X this makes the audience want to get involved in the situation and stand up for geel piet it cause us to feel worried and anxious in anticipation of what sergeant Borman will do

Y The shot links to the scene when the concert was happening and then piet dies the end it links because of the batton when he is holding by his side

The director's purpose was to show GP’s in femonty and sergeant Bormann's superiority

The effect on the audience is that it makes them want to help geel piet and stand up for but geel piet is not real character in real life
